name Topaz is denoted from the Sanskrit or the Greek. The Sanskrit
word is “Tapas”meaning fire and the Greek word “Topazos”meaning
green stone. The Romans dedicated the Topaz to Jupiter.
Modern birthstone for the calendar month of December is Blue Topaz. It is the anniversary gemstone for the 4th, 19th or 23rd year

added as an additional birthstone for December by the American Gem Trade Association in October 2002.

which is the deepest of all. Besides blue, Topaz is found in many
shades including red, orange, peach, pink, gold, yellow and brown.
The most famous Topaz is actually a colorless Topaz that was originally thought to be a diamond. It is a 1680-carat stone known as
the “Braganza Diamond” set in the Portuguese Crown Jewels.

Although Topaz is a very hard gemstone, it can be split with a single blow and should be protected from hard knocks.
